Ronaldo says 1,000 goals aren’t his only retirement goal

Ronaldo insists reaching 1,000 career goals isn’t his sole objective before retiringRonaldo could become the first man to net 1,000 official goals, yet he insists the milestone isn’t his only focus...

Can a legend chase a record and still chase glory?

Ronaldo hinted his playing days may be winding down, and reporters pressed him on whether the 1,000‑goal mark tops his agenda before he hangs up his boots.

“The aim is to hit both targets – 1,000 goals and a Nations League win for Portugal,” the striker told journalists. “The competition kicks off tomorrow. It’s a fresh chapter, but that doesn’t erase what we achieved before; we did what was needed,” he added.

Ronaldo continues to dominate for Portugal.

Before CR7 burst onto the scene, Portugal had never lifted a major trophy. Under his captaincy the side has secured three honours – one European Championship and two Nations League titles – and the hunger for another remains fierce.

For my money, chasing another trophy is the true test of his legacy, even if the road ahead looks steep.

Portugal will meet Wales, Denmark and Norway in their 2026‑27 Nations League group, now led by new boss Jorge Jesus. The schedule looks tough, yet a fresh silverware chase feels well within reach for the veteran and his star‑filled lineup.
