Did you see Palmeiras clinch a final spot despite a 0-1 defeat? The Brazilian giants won the penalty shootout 5-3 after losing regulation time, booking their place in the 2026 Libertadores final on November 28 in Montevideo.
Guided by Portuguese coach Abel Ferreira, the Verdão turned last week’s 2-1 win at the Maracanã into a decisive advantage.
The Brazilian side will meet the winner of the Flamengo‑Estudiantes clash, decided Thursday in Rio de Janeiro, in the championship decider.

A draw at home against Fluminense would have been enough for Palmeiras to reach the final for a second straight year after their 1-2 victory in the first‑leg at the Maracanã.
The edge secured by Abel Ferreira’s squad guarantees a final berth on any scoreline or a draw at the synthetic Nubank Parque, where they remain unbeaten in nine matches with six consecutive wins. In my view, this triumph cements Palmeiras as the tournament’s most resilient side.
