Not all are blissful with the Dallas cowboys at this time.
The main among the team issues is to work out an extension for bypass Rusher Micah Parsons and Cornerback Trevon Diggs who work back from knee surgery.
Diggs’ wages were recently reduced by $ 500,000 due to a termination provision, which was enacted after he did not meet the percentage of time to repeat in the team.
Pro Bowler’s bipartisan was surprised at the enforcement of the provision, but Cowboys Secretary Stephen Jones explained on Tuesday that the team believes Diggs would be closer to returning if he had recovered with the club.
“He certainly paid the price for not being here,” Jones told the 105.3 fan, through Jon Machota, the athlete, “but we also pay prices, because we felt like he could have been further with his rehabilitation here.
Diggs is currently physically unable to perform a list and his position at the beginning of the season is unknown. He tore in Miami, far from Jones believes he should have traveled on his way for recovery.
“I think a player is much better in training with us than he is elsewhere,” said Jones. “I just think the discipline comes in every day, the work is done when they are here.
As Jones referred to, the cowboys also began to pay Diggs and registered it for five years, $ 97 million extension over two years ago.
Another defender is due to a huge extension this year, but Dallas and Parsons, Pro Bowler in each of his four seasons, have not yet reached an agreement. It is the latest contract that continues through the offseason and in the training camp for cowboys. Last year, the Ceedee Lamb broadcaster, blew his extension until August 26 and team manager Dak Prescott wrote after a memorable new contract on the first Sunday 2024 period.
Before Jerry Jones said Lamb is extending, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he had not “urgent” to win a deal. He has reflected that attitude with Parsons.
Stephen Jones raised eyebrows with his comments on Sunday that for Dallas and Parsons to reach an agreement, then “got to to to Will to Ile get too.”
So to extend even further last season to previous contracts with Prescott and run back Ezekiel Elliott, Varð Zack Martin, etc., has a narrative developed that the cowboys are simply waiting too long to process their talents in big names.
“We do not agree,” Stephen Jones said on Tuesday. “We do not draw offers. We make an offer when there is an opportunity to make a contract. Certainly no one knows what happens with each other with certain negotiations. Sometimes players and agents are not willing to draw the ignition until they see other cards played.
“What we are not going to do is go out and do something that is not responsible for getting the contract to do one month before, start doing it and paying the guy an additional $ 5 million of your hood. Especially when you are dealing with, in our special case, I want to be here.”
Parsons has been aware that he also wants to be in Dallas. But an extension could have been released last season, or much sooner. Instead, training camps in Oxnard, California and Parsons are still burning.
Jones confirmed that the team is now engaged in talks with cornerback Daron Bland, who is also coming from injury shorter campaign 2024.
Of course, just as it is with Diggs’ recovery and extension of Parsons, there is no timeline for mixed extension.
