Broncos Wr Courtland Sutton suggests that he left behind money on the table to keep the roster together: “This is not about me”

Inside training camp: Highlight, buzz from Monday

Denver Broncos, recipient of Courtland Sutton, said he did not push for more money in its new contract extension to ensure that the club could keep the project list together in the long term.

“The contract we break up signing is great and it was very useful to myself,” Sutton told Sean Keeler of Denver Post. “And it gives us the opportunity to keep a lot of really good players in this team and for years to come.”

Sutton approved a four -year, $ 92 million extension on Monday, an average of $ 23 million a year. With most of the large -scale broadcasters contracts that reach the $ 30 million mark, the number Sutton could certainly have been higher. His new contract will bind him with Calvin Ridley in 18th place among the receivers. It would have been no surprise if the 29 -year -old Sutton had pushed a contract that paid him north of $ 25 million a year.

Sutton said other agreements that Broncos are looking to do in the near future, “1,000%,” had a role in taking a little less money.

Denver is in talks to extend the Pass Rusher Nik Bonitto, who is expected to be big money. Zach Allen will need a new contract. John Franklin-Myers, Malcolm Roach, PJ Locke, Alex Singleton and Justin Strnad go into the contract year.

“It wasn’t about me,” Sutton said. “After all, we work in business with benefits. (There are) talents in that dressing room, guys who are coming up, who are trying to get their second contract. I was blessed to get my third. They put the work in the same way as I am.

The Broncos project list is increasing in AFC. Keeping Sutton in the long term ensures that Bo Nix has a reliable goal. Signing a broad in a few million less than he could have pressed open doors for others to get paid.
