Trey Lance took advantage of the first game of the first game in 2025 and showed Poise and a play in the 34-7 Romp Los Angeles Chargers over the Detroit Lions in the Hall of Fame game on Thursday night.
“Big night for trust. Just played calm, cool, collected, operated the operation, fought the ball really well,” said Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh.
Lance played the first three quarters and finished 13 of 20 consignments in 120 meters and two matches. LA took over five transitions and played constantly in the short platform.

Since he entered the NFL in 2021 as no. 3 Overall, Lance has not had many opportunities to show its development. QB was injured early in his career in San Francisco, then jumped by Brock Purdy in the starting team 49ers and was last year as QB3 Cowboys.
“It is the presence that I have been seeing all the booths, he has got a booth, then he went out into the game and did,” Harbah added. “Just the feeling of – he needs players and he’s going to get them. It was a great start for him.”
Lance is fighting Taylor Heinicke for a backup of Justin Herbert.
“I was excited to be able to play and I was excited that we got this fourth game for the season. If they told me I could play four full games, then I would be fired from it,” Lance said after the victory.
It is positive to see a development from Lance, which has seen far too little game operations in the career, from its college days. The missing college games are a well -known story at this stage. In five NFL periods, Lance has tried 143 usually period-it is like a monthly option for Patrick Mahomes.
This was only one game against copies and many players who will not make the first 53 -person roster. And yes, there were still things for Lance to clean up – like playing better out of the pocket and denying some of the lows – but all in all, it was good to see him have a positive progress after a roadway.
“Going to the free agency of this dissatisfaction, my goal was to take a big step in the career,” said Lance. “I want to be the starting team one day. That’s my goal and I believe it will happen. I’m just waiting for my chance. Getting the chargers, Justin [Herbert] is obviously a great guy to learn from. Great situation for me to be in. “
