Adam Peters open to intra-league draft day trades but says Chiefs ‘more likely’ to go No. 7

Adam Peters open to intra-league draft day trades but says Chiefs 'more likely' to go No. 7

The Washington Commanders may be one team looking to move down into the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft to collect more picks.

With the possibility that division rivals could be among the teams looking for impact players, general manager Adam Peters was asked Thursday if having the No. 7 overall pick would affect how he would approach a trade with an NFC East opponent.

“No, I don’t think it affects it,” Peters responded via team transcript. “Obviously, I think there’s more scrutiny on it, but it certainly doesn’t change. You know, the thought process is always, is this the right decision for our team? And if it’s the case, we’ll do it. And it doesn’t really matter what the team is, we’re supposed to win them on Sunday and Monday and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday, so you know, it doesn’t matter to me. It’s just what’s best for our team.”

The Cowboys have been rumored to be one team looking to trade up, and the Eagles are always ready to do something on game day. Peters is right that he has to decide if a trade makes his team better, first and foremost, but potentially helping a rival always comes with different optics.
