San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keion White was shot in the ankle Monday morning in San Francisco and is undergoing surgery, the team said.
“Keion White was the victim of a shooting and suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle this morning in San Francisco,” the team said in a statement. “He is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital. We will provide more information when appropriate.”
White, 27, was traded to the 49ers from the New England Patriots in the 2025 season.
A 2023 NFL Draft second-round pick of the Patriots, White played in 14 games in 2025 with 18 tackles, 1.5 sacks and six hits (nine games, 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks with the 49ers).
Niners wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was also the victim of a shooting in August 2024. Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery in San Francisco’s Union Square.
