U.S. Soccer announced Tuesday that the national side will add a December friendly, extending the 2026 calendar beyond the slated CONCACAF Nations League matches with Haiti. U.S. Soccer has now confirmed an additional friendly in December.
Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will travel to face Jamaica on Sunday, Dec. 13, in a match that will officially close the USMNT’s 2026 program.
The showdown will take place at Inter Miami Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, the former home of Inter Miami and a venue that has previously hosted USMNT and other international games.
A key storyline is the all‑MLS roster the Stars and Stripes will field, giving Pochettino a chance to work with home‑grown talent like Cavan Sullivan and several promising prospects.
Pochettino sees Jamaica friendly as key preparation. Will this test shape the roster for the 2027 campaigns?
Looking ahead to 2027’s Nations League Final Four and Gold Cup, Pochettino stressed that this final friendly matters; for my money, it’s the best chance to gauge the domestic pool before bigger tournaments. Pochettino highlighted the importance of the team’s final friendly of the year against Jamaica.
“As we keep building our group, this is a great chance to work with many MLS players and maybe spot new faces. Jamaica is a side we could meet in upcoming tournaments, including World Cup qualifiers, so the experience is invaluable. Of course, we love playing in Fort Lauderdale and feel the local fans’ support,” the Argentine coach said.
