Drew Bledsoe sees great potential in Drake Maye, says he is “jealous” on the scrambled capabilities of Patriots QB

Drew Bledsoe sees great potential in Drake Maye, says he is "jealous" on the scrambled capabilities of Patriots QB

The numbers support Bledsoe’s claim. Maye ran at 421 meters and two touchdowns in 2024, of which 407 meters (and both points) obtained with scraps, on the next gene statistics. Of these 407 meters, 108 meters were over and tied to the third most such meters obtained with team leaders through scraps throughout the NFL, and only drew Lamar Jackson and Jayden Daniels.

Spins is an episode that immediately comes to mind when considering Jackson and Daniels. The same cannot be said about Maye, who also flew under the radar because of the bad patriots during the newcomer.

With an improved roster that surrounds him, Maye could jump that only true football fans (as well as Patriots fans) saw coming. Marc Ross, NFL’s player, already recorded Maye as a second year candidate earlier in May and if the next gene statistics serves as a reliable tea, he is on the right track to be right.

Bledsoe’s coverage of Mahomes could feel like it was a cherry chosen, but there is plenty of value in his assertion. Much of Mahomes’ ranking in the QB index last season was based on his spinning skills to extend plays and find unconventional ways to move the chains within another statistical undergy campaign. Indeed, when most readers pressed Mahomes, it was because he was not putting glowing numbers.

But there is a real value in the spin to sustain the drives. Kansas City fought their way in the Super Bowl because of these minor success, but Mahomes finished in fifth place in meters that were with Scramble (331). He finished in fourth place in the meters that were recorded with scrap trials (251 meters), and unlike most other top scraps on the list, his total conversations were not in line with high rapid or uninformed pressure. Instead, they were the results of Mahomes who simply reached plays to find links for positive profits.

If this becomes a common part of the Maye game, it will only be better for it. Preferably, the rebuilt New England offensive line will not fight as often in the coming seasons and reduce the need for Maye to get involved. But if there is always a threat, it makes it much more difficult to defend.
