So again, it doesn’t take much to know when a player in the quality of Hutchinson is reaching in shape. Although we are still months from knowing if Hutchinson has returned to his old self, he is certainly not slack, Sheppard said.
“You wouldn’t know that he is the player in quality that he is about how he behaves,” Sheppard said. “How he works, his attention to the details of meetings, how he helps people, how he wants to be pushed and train hard. You start to get to a certain point and people think these boys at the top of the points and class information, they are tapped out (with their potential), it’s all over.
“Most of the boys who are very special, they never even have that thought in their minds. They want to be trained hard, they want to be pushed.
Hutchinson’s dedication and work ethics have never been uncertain, although 2025 will be his greatest test. All signs point to him that lies with flying colors, which would be a blessing for Lions’ defense, which undoubtedly rely on him during this season.
“I’m hesitant to talk about all the plans and stuff I have with Hutch, but I have full faith in the player because I know who he is outside the talent,” said Sheppard. “I know who he is and I know if someone wants things for Hutch, then it’s him. So he’s going to make sure he has returned to the bar that he has set himself up.”
