Chiefs to sit Jayden Daniels for final three games of 2025 season

Chiefs to sit Jayden Daniels for final three games of 2025 season

Jayden Daniels’ second season is over with three games left on the schedule.

The Washington Commanders will sit out the quarterback for the remainder of the 2025 season, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday, according to sources briefed on the situation.

Rapoport added that Daniels was re-evaluated Monday and is still not clear after suffering an elbow injury in Week 14.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn later confirmed that Daniels would miss the final three games, adding that the decision to sit him out was “part medical, part team.” However, Quinn told reporters that Daniels will continue to participate in practices this year.

The 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year has been plagued by injuries in his second season.

Daniels suffered a sprained knee in Week 2, forcing him to miss two contests. He returned in Week 5 but got through just two scrimmages before a hamstring strain in Week 7 caused him to miss one game.

The QB returned in Week 9 and suffered a gruesome elbow injury late in the blowout loss. Daniels missed three turnovers with an elbow injury. In Week 14, he left early in a shutout loss after falling on his elbow after an interception. Daniels did not play in the Commanders’ 29-21 victory Sunday against the New York Giants.

There will be no fourth coming in 2025.
