It’s rare for a player to undergo such a major surgery the day after suffering an injury, but as evidenced by Mahomes’ immediate rehab start, the three-time Super Bowl winner and Super Bowl MVP is determined to get back on the field as soon as possible in hopes of starting the 2026 season.
Mahomes’ injury came in the waning moments of Kansas City’s 16-13 loss, which ended a 10-game streak for a playoff berth and left the once-mighty dynasty with plenty of questions to answer heading into the postseason. Not least will be the future of Mahomes, who has missed just four games due to injury in a career that had never seen a season end before Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.
Not only did the Chiefs’ playoff run end, so did Mahomes’ campaign, but he has wasted no time in starting his comeback.
