Hold in James Cook surprised the Buffalo Bills.
Following Sunday’s comments and stated that he has been sitting from exercises for “business” reasons where he is looking for an extension of the contract, Brandon Beane’s chief executive join “The Jeremy & Joe Show” on WGR 550 on Monday morning and said he did not see Cook’s post.
“Yes, you know, it’s not something we were fully aware of until shortly before training,” Beane said through Katherine Fitzgerald at Buffalo News. “So, I get it, I understand it; it’s the world we are in, I think, how players want to respond and stuff.”
Cook is returning to a 1,000 plus garden period and is looking for an extension that would align him with the top rush in the NFL. Earlier in Offseason, he suggested that he be looking for a new contract in the range of $ 15 million a year.
Beane said early on Monday that he was not aware of whether Cook was going to continue.
“Yes, I mean, without getting into things, there has been constant communication with his agent, either with myself or (CEO of the Football Agency) Kevin Meganck,” said Beane. “So you know, when everything is on the bottom, I wish we weren’t here. This is my ninth season here, we’ve never had a player missing because of a contract or something like that, so it disappoints me.
“It’s not something we want, it’s not something we look forward to. But at the end of the day, as I said earlier, it can sometimes be the way of the world, so we will cope with the best we can, and hopefully I would love to see Jimbo out there today – I don’t know this morning.
When practice began later on Monday, Cook was not in uniform.
