Arthur Smith is heading back to college.
The former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator is expected to be Ohio State’s next OC, NFL Networks insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday.
Smith spent the past two seasons as Mike Tomlin’s offensive coordinator in Pittsburgh after a three-year stint as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons.
Smith had shown interest in the NFL head coaching career this year, interviewing with the Cardinals and Titans for HC roles. He also interviewed for offensive coordinator positions with the Lions and Chargers.
Instead, Smith will go to one of college football’s perennial contenders. Ohio State won the College Football Playoff last year and reached the quarterfinals last season.
