Patrick Mahomes: The painful loss of Super Bowl provides "a little extra" incentive to get better

Patrick Mahomes joined a gorgeous group of NFL starting teams who have lost many Super Bowls, a crew containing Jim Kelly (4), Tom Brady (3), John Elway (3), Fran Tarbyn (3), Roger Stabach, Craig Morton, Peyton Manning and Kurt Warner.

Getting to the end of the grinding road and coming short is a whole different level.

“When you get this far and then you are in the end, it’s just hurt,” Mahomes told Jarrett Bell from USA Today. “You put in so much work on it. So it’s always hard to lose on that final step. But that’s how you answer. I thought we answered well after that last Super Bowl loss, just a kind of building and getting even better and winning some other championships.

“So, now this is about,” Where are we going now? Are we going to be even better from that loss? Will we find ways to make everyone better, not just one person? ” I feel like we’ve done it in the camp.

After the 2020 loss to Brady’s Bucs reconstructed Chiefs offensive line. Once again, after Mahomes was destroyed in the second Super Bowl, Brett Veach’s CEO and coach Andy Reid are winning the offensive line.

Every NFL player is interested in improving the season to the season, even winners. Mahomes, however, acknowledged that the mindset of the Super Bowl loss is different.

“This just gives you a little extra in some exercises and these movie times, to try to find the little things to get even better,” said Mahomes. “You try to do it when you have succeeded, but at the same time, when you have succeeded, you can sometimes be unlucky. Obviously, you don’t want to lose the game, but it can give you a little more incentive to be even better.”

Every professional athlete thrives on these small indications of motivation – finding a little in every corner to push themselves into hills that they could not have previously thought they could reach.

Losing in the largest range, in front of hundreds of millions, can have a prominently inspiring part. This is especially true when there is an explosion like Chiefs experienced.

A three -hour Super Bowl MVP stated that even he has things he must improve when he reaches 30 years.

“It’s a stuff we have to get better at,” Mahomes said. “Especially yourself. There are plays on the football field that I didn’t do last year, that I’ve done in recent years. At the end of the day I’m going to do whatever it takes to work, whether it’s going for many meters, don’t go a lot of meters. Defense and let them play more for free and let the team play more free.”
