Thursday’s Europa League tie on England’s south coast carries a clear American vibe, but its impact remains to be seen. Pulisic and Adams, two of the USMNT’s biggest names, are set to trade national camaraderie for club rivalry. Will the U.S. spark shift the contest?
Bournemouth host AC Milan at the Vitality Stadium, kickoff 3 p.m. ET. Though both know each other’s playbooks, their clubs have enjoyed very different season starts.
Who is in better form, Pulisic or Adams?
Milan, guided by Ruben Amorim, stay unbeaten in Serie A, buoyed by Sunday’s thrilling 3‑2 win over Atalanta that lifted them into the top four.
The American winger has logged a goal and an assist in the league, yet his limited starts raise questions. He featured only thirty minutes in Milan’s 4‑0 Europa League thrashing of Salzburg.
Adams remains a steady midfield anchor for Marco Rose, even as Bournemouth wrestles with domestic woes. Their recent 2‑0 win over Sunderland offered a brief respite from an unexpected relegation‑zone spot.
Which American will gain the Europa League edge as the season unfolds?
Bournemouth are savoring their maiden European campaign, snatching victories in their opening matches against Real Sociedad and Sturm Graz. Milan, seasoned European contenders, sit on three points after a loss to Benfica followed by a dominant Salzburg demolition.
For USMNT supporters, the duel is especially captivating. Pulisic’s creativity against Adams’ relentless defending mirrors the training‑ground battles American coaches cherish. In my view, Pulisic’s flair could tip the balance.
Another familiar face joins Milan’s ranks: Yunus Musah.
If Amorim benches Pulisic as he rotates the attack, his eventual entry could give Adams a tough assignment against a known foe. International friendships can wait until the final whistle.
