LeBron, Nurse, and Preseason Updates for the Sixers

Sixers Notes: LeBron, Nurse, Brown, PreseasonLeBron stays productive in his 40s, but age still shows.

LeBron James continues to defy age, yet chronic arthritis in his left foot and lingering sciatica still demand special back treatment, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reports.

He hit the practice complex over three hours early each day, teaming up with longtime trainer Mike Mancias for stretches and prep work.

Living in New York, James took a 40‑minute helicopter ride that dropped him atop the team’s office beside the gym, a routine that apparently doesn’t ruffle anyone, even owner Josh Harris who does the same.

More Sixers updates follow:

  • Two weeks before his late‑July signing, Coach Nick Nurse paused a golf round after a text from Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul. In a cart they hashed out offensive and defensive basics, then drifted to fit questions. “I think the first things were just offense and defense — the nuts and bolts of basketball,” Nurse recalled. “He remembered why we were doing what we were doing on offense… and we talked about the fit.” In my view, Nurse’s direct dialogue could shape a seamless integration.
  • Adam Aaronson of The Philly Voice outlines five preseason puzzles: who will claim the backup center minutes, the role for rookie Labaron Philon Jr., and the fight for the two‑way roster spot. Can the Sixers lock down a clear plan before the regular season kicks off?
