One of the heroes in the only Super Bowl victory New Orleans Saints will be immortal in the history of the right to vote this year.
The saints announced on Wednesday that former cornerback Tracy Porter and security Brett Maxie will be included in the Hall of Fame team this weekend in 15 games in New Orleans against the Carolina Panthers.
Porter played only four seasons for the Saints, but he set his mark in his short time in Bayou. Porter claims one of the most famous plays in Saints history when he intercepted Peyton Manning in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl XLIV and returned it for a game collection in a 31-17 victory at the Indianapolis Colts.
Selected by New Orleans in the second round of the draft 2008 Porter appeared in 43 games with 39 start.
Maxie played nine seasons with the Saints, recorded 15 interceptions and was a key player in the first win in New Orleans and the appearance of the playoffs. Fourth down Maxie’s tackle in week 11 victory over Pittsburgh Steelers in 1987 helped to seal the first winning period of the right to vote.
The Saints also announced on Wednesday that Steve Gleason would be honored with the Hall of Fame Courage Award and former Wgno sports director Ed Daniels, Postum will receive Joe Gemelli “Fleur de Lis” award.
