Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers (left wrist) returns to practice Thursday

Rodgers sat out practice Wednesday as he recovers from a sprained left wrist suffered in the first half of the Steelers’ Week 11 win over Cincinnati last Sunday.

Rodgers told reporters Wednesday that he spent the day receiving treatment and participating in a rehab session with trainers with hopes of returning to the field, adding that his ability to play this Sunday against the Bears is more a matter of safety than pain tolerance.

If Rodgers is unable to play Sunday in Chicago, backup Mason Rudolph will replace him in the starting lineup. The veteran did an admirable job in relief against Rodgers in the second half last week, completing 12 of 16 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in a 34-12 win.
