Surprising release just went down to Las Vegas.
Raiders are cutting Wilkins’ performance following the dispute over whether he should undergo surgery on his injured foot, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport on Thursday.
Wilkins, who broke his leg last season and missed all but five games, went into physically impossible to perform a list to start training camps and had a uncertain timeline to return. Although the team wanted him to be in surgery, the 29 -year -old was rejected after receiving some views, each rapoport.
Las Vegas confirmed Wilkin’s issue a little later.
“We have decided that it is for the benefit of the association to continue from Christian Wilkins and he has been notified of his solution from the team,” Raiders said in a statement. “This right to vote has a commitment to excellence on and out of the field. With no clear way or a future plan to play from Christian, these transactions are necessary for the whole organization to get ahead and prepare for the new season.”
This is a shocking divorce, especially considering that Las Vegas signed the four -year defense, $ 110 million extension for the correct season.
The trip could lead to some arguments for his remaining guaranteed money, but $ 8 million in the books before 2025 after Wilkins made $ 29.2 million last season and already $ 20.5 million this year, Rapoport added.
When he was aiming for the seventh year, Wilkins has 372 career with 22.5 sacks, 56 teammates and four forced Fumbles.
