Niners Lt Trent Williams at the goal of playing until he is 40: “Don’t be left with something left on the table”

Niners Lt Trent Williams at the goal of playing until he is 40: "Don't be left with something left on the table"

Williams has aged like fine wine through his 14 seasons and continues to appear as one of the elit studies in the department, even when he moves into the second half of his twenties.

After being in the league since 2010, Williams Pro Bowl won Kink in 11 direct seasons played with his third year, but that streak ended only in 2024 when he missed seven games due to chronic ankle injuries. He also broke the ranks of the three first teams of all-PRO selection in a row from 2021-2023, which all came after he turned 30.

Although he did not play after week 11, Williams was usually efficient himself when he was on the field last year. He won 85.6 overall PFF rating, in sixth place among tackles and allowed only one bag.

Given the consistency that Williams has continued to be at the top of his position, it is no wonder that he has the confidence to reach his 40 -year period.

Whether he is capable of playing to that extent and beyond, or needs to retire sooner than selected, Williams does not know for sure and he will not spend time wondering about the possibilities until necessary. His current extension keeps him 49er through the period 2026 and he said he was not worried about his contract and is “taking for all one year at a time.”

“I just feel like I do myself and my teammates in service if I’m looking for a final,” he said. “I’m paid, people trust me to be here now. We got goals and hopes as a team. I just don’t think to put brain power toward it helps us to get where we want to go.

“So when that happens, it happens. I feel like one day comes in, I should know when it’s getting that time. And then I do it responsible and let them know early enough so they can make the corrections you need.”

When this day arrives, Niners are forced to find a satisfactory exchange for one of the best strikers in the game and a player who has ordered his offense for the past five seasons.

But for a while, with his 37 -year season, which was intended to leave within three months, Williams has not yet started to slow down.
