San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan’s training camp plans have been severely disrupted by a car accident he was involved in on July 14, forcing him to limit his coaching duties, the team announced Saturday.
Assistant coach Chris Foerster and team managers will oversee head coaching responsibilities until Shanahan’s return, as announced by the 49ers organization.
Shanahan suffered a series of severe injuries, including three broken ribs, a broken arm, a broken nose, and a severe concussion, requiring over 40 stitches after crashing an SUV near his home in Northern California.
The 49ers confirmed that Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car accident last week, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, but will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp.

The 46-year-old head coach was rushed to the hospital by paramedics after the crash and spent the day receiving treatment, while the other driver involved in the collision escaped uninjured.
