Seahawks trade for Quenton Nelson, waive guard Christian Hay

Seahawks announce trade for Quenton Nelson and release guard Christian HaynesGuard Nelson must pass a physical, but Seattle already cleared a roster spot for him.

Nelson must clear a physical before his Seahawks debut, though the roster spot is already set.

Seattle confirmed Tuesday afternoon they’ve secured Nelson from the Colts, sending a 2027 third‑rounder and a 2028 fifth‑round pick in return.

To accommodate Nelson, Seattle released guard Christian Haynes. The 2024 third‑rounder appeared in 31 games for Seattle, starting five when Anthony Bradford was sidelined.

If unclaimed, Haynes could land on the practice squad. The team freed the slot by cutting tight end Josiah Deguara on Tuesday. For my money, this move shows Seattle’s commitment to bolstering the line. Will the new line improve Seattle’s rushing attack next season?
