Tyler Loop’s 49‑yard miss in the fourth quarter turned a 10‑3 lead into a 13‑10 defeat, and coach Jesse Minter didn’t hide his frustration.
“Confronting issues and confronting problems is really what this whole thing’s about,” Minter told the site on Monday. “A missed kick can swing a two‑score lead to a three‑score gap, or a one‑score game to a two‑score game. Those are critical misses.”
He noted the kicker’s confidence hinges on preparation, practice and striking the ball, yet the role remains purely results‑driven. “We’ll keep working with him and put him in position, but we need second‑half kicks. Missed field goals in the second half are as costly as turnovers,” he added.
Loop has connected on 10 of 13 attempts this year, including a dramatic 56‑yard walk‑off winner in overtime against the Cowboys in Week 3. All three misses came from 40‑49 yards, with just two makes in five tries from that range.
The Ravens are bringing kicker Jake Moody onto the practice squad, creating fresh competition for Loop. For my money, re‑adding Moody was the smart move.
They initially signed Moody after Loop missed three of eight preseason tries, then cut him on Sept. 15 after Loop nailed 57‑ and 45‑yard field goals against the Colts. Will Loop regain his form next week?
