Can the Chargers turn turnover trouble into wins? Coach Jim Harbaugh backed offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel on Wednesday, yet McDaniel knows the current scheme won’t cut it.
Last Sunday the Chargers fell to Buffalo despite a +4 turnover margin. At Thursday’s press conference McDaniel admitted, “we were the reason we lost a football game,” noting five giveaways in the first two outings.
McDaniel insists his faith in the unit remains intact, claiming a clearer picture of how to unlock quarterback Justin Herbert’s potential. Still, he stresses that only on‑field results count.
“There has been improvement, but does anyone care? No,” McDaniel said, adding, “We’re not chasing moral victories.” He warned that recent actions have directly contributed to defeats. In my view, the offense’s lack of urgency is its biggest flaw. “Our job is to get better across the board,” he asserted, noting he lives in reality, not hope.
The upcoming clash in Seattle against the Seahawks won’t be easy, as the Chargers aim to snap a 12‑game skid. McDaniel and his staff must devise a plan quickly, or future confidence may evaporate. Will the next week finally see the offense click?
