Najee Harris warned that the Giants’ rushing attack lacks consistent touches, and now he’ll see none.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Giants are cutting Harris.
Across five games, including one start, Harris logged 31 carries for 99 yards. Against the Saints on Sunday, he managed four rushes for two yards on 11 snaps.
Pre‑game reports had suggested Harris would assume a bigger role.
The phrasing that the Giants “are releasing” him seems designed to spark trade interest for his one‑year, $1.215 million deal. In my view, the team is using his contract to test the market.
Either way, his tenure with New York ends, and it feels like a reaction to his blunt critique of the ground game.
‘It’s tough to find a rhythm with just one or two plays,’ Harris explained. ‘The first few runs are a test, the next ones a plan. But if you get a play and then sit out the series, there’s nothing you can do. That’s why I’m uncertain.’ He added, ‘I’ve never been through none of this before’.
A 2021 first‑round pick, Harris posted four consecutive 1,000‑yard seasons in Pittsburgh. He then suffered an Achilles tear after three games with the Chargers in 2025, following an off‑season fireworks accident. Will he land with a new team before the season concludes?
