The Thunder announced they’ve released two‑way guard Otega Oweh in a press release.
At 23, a 41st‑overall pick from Kentucky, he logged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals on .465/.333/.731 shooting in 36 senior games, earning second‑team All‑SEC honors.
Oweh, famed for a buzzer‑beater in this year’s NCAA tourney, underwent season‑ending surgery for a ruptured right Achilles tendon ten days ago, after injuring himself in Oklahoma City’s preseason win over Indiana on Oct. 12.
This move opens a two‑way slot for Micah Peavy, a 2025 second‑rounder who spent his rookie year with the Pelicans after being dealt from Georgetown to Memphis and cut by the Grizzlies on Monday. For my money, adding Peavy gives the Thunder a fresh spark. Will his presence boost the roster’s depth?
