3:50 pm: Phoenix confirmed Reath’s shift to a two‑way contract, according to the NBA.com transaction log.
2:08 pm: The Suns are turning Duop Reath’s Exhibit 10 deal into a two‑way slot, reports Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (Twitter link).
Arizona Sports 98.7’s John Gambadoro had hinted last week that Reath would land a two‑way pact.
The 6‑foot‑9 inch South Sudan‑born center spent three seasons as a bench big for Portland, endured a season‑ending foot operation in January, then was dealt to and cut by Atlanta in February.
Now 30, Reath has logged 146 regular‑season games, averaging 6.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 13.3 minutes, shooting .451/.357/.777.
He inked the Exhibit 10 with Phoenix in late September, just before camp, and featured in four preseason outings, posting 5.5 points and 1.5 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game.
After waiving guard Koby Brea and forward CJ Huntley on Monday, the Suns opened two two‑way slots; Reath fills one, bolstering a front line that will miss starter Mark Williams for most of the year while he recovers from shoulder surgery. For my money, Reath’s experience gives the Suns a needed boost.
