Raptors Ink Kevin McCullar Jr. to Two-Way Deal

Knicks sign Kevin McCullar Jr. and Tyler Nickel to two‑way contractsThe Knicks have signed Kevin McCullar Jr.

The Raptors have added former Knicks guard Kevin McCullar Jr. on a two‑way deal, the club announced today via Blake Murphy of Sportsnet.ca. Can Toronto turn this gamble into a win?

Toronto cut two-way players Trey Jemison and Chucky Hepburn near the preseason’s end. It then upgraded big man Nate Bittle from an Exhibit 10 to a two‑way contract for opening night, leaving one slot open until now. McCullar’s signing simply fills that vacancy, so no extra roster move was required.

A 56th‑overall pick in the 2024 draft out of Kansas, McCullar spent his first two pro seasons on Knicks two‑way deals, seeing limited action. In 25 NBA games he logged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per outing.

He logged bigger minutes in the G League, posting 16.8 points, 6.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals over 14 games for the Westchester Knicks in 2025/26. Yet his shooting line of .422/.299/.667 was underwhelming. For my money, those numbers prove he still must sharpen his accuracy.

It seemed this fall McCullar would spend a third year on a Knicks two‑way contract, but the team waived him in the first week to make room for newcomer Dalton Knecht. Since then he has remained an unrestricted free agent.

He may appear in up to 45 regular‑season games for Toronto, though a promotion to the 15‑man roster would be required for playoff eligibility.
