The Knicks announced today they’ve locked up wing Kevin McCullar Jr. and forward Tyler Nickel on two‑way contracts (Twitter links).
McCullar, a 25‑year‑old, spent the last two seasons in New York on two‑way deals after being picked 56th overall in the 2024 draft. He appeared in 21 regular‑season games in 2025‑26, logging 7.4 minutes and 2.4 points per outing.
The 6‑ft‑6 wing, who played at Texas Tech and Kansas, logged 14 games with the Westchester Knicks last season, averaging 31.4 minutes, 16.8 points, 6.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.0 block while shooting .422/.299/.667.
Nickel finally secured his first NBA contract after being the 47th pick in the 2026 second round.
As Vanderbilt’s senior, Nickel posted 13.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists on .445/.400/.847 shooting across 36 starts, averaging 30.6 minutes and launching 7.6 three‑point attempts per game.
Weighing a return to college after a judge ruled that 2022 high‑school class players could claim a fifth season, Nickel chose the NBA path instead; for my money, his shooting prowess makes him a steal on a two‑way deal.
With two of three two‑way slots now filled, the Knicks still have one vacancy as training camp looms—will they find another sharpshooter to round out the roster?
