Sam LaPorta, the Lions’ tight end, is seeking a new deal and lamented this week that “it sucks” no agreement has been reached while he finishes his rookie year.
LaPorta warned he’ll “go get paid somewhere else” if talks stall, a point Campbell addressed on Friday. He admitted no one wants contract drama mid‑season, especially with Green Bay looming, but stressed LaPorta remains focused and the team won’t feel any fallout.
“I see how it looks, but I know Sam,” Campbell asserted. “Honestly, his comments don’t faze me—I trust his character. We’re solid, no distraction.” For my money, LaPorta’s honesty fuels his on‑field drive.
Through five games, LaPorta has hauled in 27 receptions for 316 yards and three scores; keep that production and he’ll be cashing in before the 2026 season ends.
