Lazio dominate the table after a 6-2 thrashing of 10-man Sassuolo, even with Stefano Turati denying two penalties and Kristian Thorstvedt seeing red.
The Biancocelesti led the league alongside Inter, though Albert Gudmundsson, Adam Marusic and Nicolò Rovella remain sidelined, and Andrea Pinamonti sits on the bench after a throat infection. Diogo Leite rested Oliver Provstgaard. Sassuolo have earned just one point from their last four matches, a 1-1 draw with Milan, missing several key players.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.
Lazio supporters have boycotted home fixtures over President Claudio Lotito, yet they swamped the stadium, outnumbering the locals.
Within two minutes the deadlock fell: Kenneth Taylor fed Gustav Isaksen, whose pass to Luca Lipani was intercepted, allowing Taylor to slot home from 14 yards. Frattesi was flagged offside but did not affect Turati’s save attempt.
Soon after the VAR pause, Sassuolo equalised when Josh Doig delivered from the left for Kristian Thorstvedt’s first‑time strike, possibly deflecting off Bosko Sutalo.
Lazio regained the lead as Mattia Zaccagni shrugged off Luca Lipani, cut inside and found Isaksen, who tucked the ball into the far bottom corner with his left foot.
Three minutes later Taylor’s low pass from the left slipped past Zaccagni and Tijjani Noslin, ending with Romano Floriani Mussolini tapping it in at the back post. The goal was later ruled offside, but the youngster celebrated his first Serie A strike after a VAR check.
The last time four goals were scored in the opening 16 minutes of a Serie A match was Atalanta‑Bologna in April 2019.
Noslin struck just over, while Christos Mandas nearly erred rushing off his line, and Darryl Bakola failed to find the empty net from midfield.
Sassuolo’s woes deepened when Thorstvedt received a straight red for a reckless leg‑break tackle on Zaccagni, stamping on his ankle and shin.
Armand Laurienté netted after drifting offside on a long ball, and Sassuolo pulled one back before halftime when Simone Cinquegrano headed a by‑line cross, Sebastiano Esposito chest‑controlled and fired from 14 yards.
In added time, Isaksen lofted a ball over the defense for Zaccagni, who headed it cleanly from six yards.
Immediately after the restart, Cinquegrano blocked a Zaccagni shot with a raised arm, prompting VAR to award a penalty, which Stefano Turati saved from Zaccagni’s weak effort.
Noslin added another Lazio goal, touching Zaccagni’s assist and curling a right‑footed finish into the far bottom corner from the edge of the area.
It could have been more: Duje Caleta‑Car clumsily fouled Isaksen, leading to a penalty. Frattesi stepped up but Turati saved again.
Noslin wasn’t finished, blasting a long‑range screamer into the far top corner, leaving Turati helpless.
Matteo Cancellieri might have scored a seventh with a header that drifted wide as Zaccagni set up the ball from the by‑line.
Mandas made a fine save from Kieron Bowie’s angled shot, though the Sassuolo striker was offside.
Taylor 2 (L), Thorstvedt 7 (S), Isaksen 13 (L), Floriani Mussolini 16 (L), S Esposito 43 (S), Zaccagni 45+1 (L), Noslin 55, 66 (L)
Sent off: Thorstvedt 32 (S)
Saved penalty: Zaccagni 51 (L), Frattesi 61 (L)
