Fabregas announced that defender Assane Diao will miss two to three weeks and stressed that this campaign feels brand‑new for everyone following the Champions League loss.
The showdown kicks off at Florence’s Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday, 14:00 GMT (15:00 CEST).
Meanwhile, the Lariani have stumbled under Champions League pressure, earning just one point from their last two Serie A games and falling 3‑2 to Feyenoord in Europe.
Fabregas tackles fresh challenges at Como
“I expect a thrilling encounter against a storied side like Fiorentina,” Fabregas told Como’s official channels, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb. For my money, this encounter could set the tone for their league run.
“Paolo Vanoli is a top‑class coach with a solid squad; they improve game by game. Preparing in Florence always presents a tough, intriguing test,” he added.
Their first Champions League loss came in the Netherlands, a 3‑2 defeat to Feyenoord after Diao scored early then left the field injured.
“We know this season is a fresh experience for everyone. We’ve entered an adaptation phase we anticipated before the start,” Fabregas said.
“We’re gradually mastering the calendar; what matters is not the start but how we finish,” he noted.
Diao limped off, and Moise Kean stayed home after a knee injury suffered on Italy duty.
“Kean needs a week to ten days to recover fully. Diao has a minor muscle issue; they estimate two to three weeks,” Fabregas explained. Will he be fit for Inter?
“Hopefully he’ll be fit for the Inter match; otherwise he’ll miss the post‑break international window,” Fabregas added.
