Zidane likely to stick with three keepers

Towards a status‑quo among goalkeepers in Zidane’s second squadZidane will announce the three keepers who featured in France’s recent games at 6 p.m. today.

Tonight at 6 p.m., Zidane is set to unveil the three keepers who featured in France’s recent fixtures. Maignan, Restes and Butez are in the mix. Will any surprise slip through?

Continuity seems the name of the game. With the Nations League dates against Italy (Nov 12) and Turkey (Nov 15) looming, Zidane appears poised to stick with the trio that backed him in the first camp of his tenure.

Risser looks set to stay on the sidelines. Will the unchanged trio keep France solid in November?

The coach will likely call up Milan’s Mike Maignan, Toulouse’s Guillaume Restes and Turkey‑based Jean Butez for the two fixtures, meaning Lens’ Robin Risser—initially listed in September before an injury swap—will miss out. For my money, Risser’s omission underscores Zidane’s confidence in the current trio.

During the last camp Maignan guarded the net for all three opening games—Turkey, Belgium and Italy. He ceded his spot to Restes for the fourth match, a 4‑1 win over Belgium, handing the Toulousain his first senior call‑up.
