Málaga remains winless in their LaLiga return as Real Sociedad dazzles, with Oyarzabal’s brace cementing a European‑spot push. Can the hosts ever find a spark?

With just four points after nine rounds and a clear bottom‑place gap, Juanfran Funes’s tenure in Málaga finally faces scrutiny. Squad limits help, but a fresh direction is urgently needed.

BEST Real Sociedad continues showing its offensive bite
WORST Neither side manages to shut the opponent out

Real Sociedad’s visit left La Rosaleda icy, despite a second‑half surge that briefly hinted at a comeback.

From the kickoff it was clear the Donostia side dominated, pressing high and showcasing superior attacking talent. Take Kubo struck just three minutes in, a finish reminiscent of Yamal’s strike at La Cartuja.

Málaga’s helplessness stalled any forward motion against a well‑positioned opponent exploiting local defensive frailties.

The only pre‑half answer was Adrián Niño’s effort that beat Remiro, yet Real quickly replied. Óskarsson scored at 26’, before the half‑hour mark.

Juanfran Funes shuffled his bench to spark the attack, bringing on Aznou and Ramón. The gamble paid off briefly when Niño reduced the deficit, but Oyarzabal’s swift equaliser nullified the joy. Chupe’s header rattled the crossbar, Pablo Martínez responded, yet Oyarzabal struck again within two minutes. Guedes capped the rout with a counter‑attack finish. For my money, Málaga must overhaul their tactics.
