Las Palmas and Valladolid Share the Spoils

Las Palmas and Valladolid end in a drawLas Palmas and Real Valladolid drew 2‑2 at Gran Canaria Stadium, a result that does little to solve either side’s issues.

UD Las Palmas and Real Valladolid settled for a 2‑2 stalemate at Gran Canaria Stadium, a result that leaves both clubs still wrestling with their woes. Can either side turn the tide?

Just like the previous match against Córdoba, Las Palmas conceded early, rallied, yet fell short of securing the three points on the road.

The yellow side struck first. Iván Jaime cut in from the left, fed Elías Romero who drew the violet‑white defence and slipped a ball to Valentín Pezzolesi for a tidy right‑foot finish.

Their lead evaporated after five minutes when Juanmi Latasa headed a loose ball into an empty net following a scramble between Víctor Júnior and Caro, while Bonfanti stood idle.

With the crowd growing restless, Kirian Rodríguez lost the ball in a dangerous area, Arnu recovered, passed to Víctor Júnior and swung a left‑foot cross to Ponceau, who tucked it low past Caro’s short post.

In my view, Escribá’s side squandered a clear opening before halftime; every foray into Valladolid’s box smelled of a goal, yet none materialised, gifting the islanders extra breathing room for the second half.

After the break, Jesé’s solo run off a Kirian pass saw his shot clatter against the post, and Elías Romero pounced to restore parity.

Two minutes later the home striker missed a golden chance, sending a one‑on‑one with Álvaro Aceves wide of the target.

Having shaken off his worst spell, Latasa created a clean‑cut chance for Valladolid, blasting a shot that glanced off Caro and prompting the forward to appeal for a penalty.

That chance proved to be the final one for both teams, as a flurry of substitutions dulled the tempo rather than revitalising play.

Las Palmas introduced academy product Adrián Rodríguez at left‑back, but De la Barrera’s decision to replace Jesé seemed to backfire, leaving the striker displeased with the benching.
