Tyquan Thornton snapped his left ankle during Kansas City’s Sunday win over the Raiders, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reports, and doctors promptly reset it.
He’ll get an MRI Monday and a second medical opinion.
That looks serious, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said, via Jared Sapp of SB Nation. “He’ll fly back with us for further checks. In my view, his grit will lift the squad.”
Thornton didn’t notice the injury until he tried to rise after a 55‑yard reception. He ended the game with five grabs, 111 yards and two scores.
Reid called it a tough break for a player who’s a devoted dad, husband and team leader. His attitude has been stellar all season, and losing him now hurts. Will he return strong enough to finish the campaign?
