Fermín López returns to the national team after a fifth‑metatarsal fracture kept him out of the World Cup. Though he hasn’t scored or assisted yet, the Barcelona forward has shown why Luis de la Fuente selected him for the summer campaign.
“It’s a huge honour, my first start and, after the injury, I’m thrilled with the chance,” the El Campillo native told Televisión Española after the match. In my view, his determination sets a great example for teammates.
He added, “I didn’t get on the pitch, but I tried to make an impact and the side delivered a superb performance.”
The World Cup felt odd for me, watching as a fan, yet I was genuinely happy. I kept thinking I could have been there. Now I’m back, turned the page, and I’m delighted,” Fermín declared.
