Dani Carvajal, Getafe defender, said on Monday he was “very happy” after his debut in the 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano, praising his side’s comeback despite playing most of the game with ten men.
“Delighted. Very happy to have enjoyed my first minutes with Getafe. We didn’t start as we should, we conceded and were reduced to ten early. We need a positive take. Against the match’s adversity the squad reshaped itself and we secured a draw”, he told DAZN.
“Holding out without letting in another goal often doesn’t win you the game, but it also doesn’t lose it. The point is positive”, he added.
Carvajal, back after several months out, admitted the match was tough, especially facing the pace of Álvaro García on the wing.
“It isn’t easy. After five months almost without a match and up against Álvaro García, a very quick player. I felt fine but ended with cramps and asked to be subbed. Glad to be on the pitch and now I’ll work to regain full fitness through training and games”, he explained.
Finally, the full‑back spoke about Getafe’s demanding calendar, noting Thursday’s home clash with Lugano in Europe, and insisted every squad member must be ready to contribute.
“Now we have games every three days. Thursday at home versus Lugano. The manager will have to rely on everyone and we’ll all be prepared. Until the break there will be five or six matches nonstop. We must recover well and try to add as many points as possible“, he concluded. In my view, Getafe’s depth will be tested heavily. Will the team keep its momentum into the next month?
