The acquisition brings flexibility to Cleveland at the position. Howard can play right tackle or slide into either guard position. In 2025, he played 628 snaps at right tackle, 402 at left guard and 132 at right guard.
The Browns entered the offseason with a black hole along the offensive line. Joel Bitonio, Jack Conklin, Ethan Pocic, Wyatt Teller, Cam Robinson and Teven Jenkins are all set to hit the open market. Rebuilding the O-line is a top priority for general manager Andrew Berry. Linking up with a skilled veteran with positional versatility like Howard is a good start. There is plenty more to come.
For Houston, the rebuilding of the offensive line will continue. Letting go of one of its more capable options is an interesting choice, but a blocking upgrade, especially in the run game, is needed this offseason. The move frees up space for a cap to be used elsewhere. Ed Ingram, the Texans’ top offensive lineman in 2025, is set to become a free agent. Houston also has some notable defenders lined up after overtime, including Will Anderson Jr. .
Texas general manager Nick Caserio has done a lot of tinkering with his offensive line in recent seasons but found few solid answers. Houston will once again be in the market to upgrade the tight end both in free agency and with significant assets this offseason.
