Texans WR Nico Collins explains why he was limited in offseason workouts

GM Nick Caserio: Anyone saying Texas could trade WR Nico Collins 'can take it and push it'

Collins has worked his way into a two-time Pro Bowler and generated 1,000-plus yards each of the past three seasons. However, injuries have reared their heads in every single one of his campaigns. Last year, he sat out Week 7 with a concussion and missed the following tilt. Collins suffered another head injury in the win against Pittsburgh and did not play in the Division One. In 2024, he missed five games with a hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old Michigan product is a vital cog in the offense, giving CJ Stroud a big target who can work in tight spaces and create explosive plays. Last year, Collins had 71 catches on 120 targets for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns in 15 games. The next closest Texans wide receiver was Jayden Higgins with 525 yards.

Collins’ health is paramount if the Texans’ offense is to take a step forward in 2026. The health of Tank Dell and the improvement from sophomores Higgins and Jaylin Noel will be closely watched in training camp. But Nico has to stay healthy.
