The Pittsburgh Steelers have found their next leader.
The Steelers are expected to hire former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy as Pittsburgh’s HC, NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reported Saturday, according to sources.
McCarthy takes over in Pittsburgh after Mike Tomlin retires after 19 seasons on Jan. 13.
McCarthy has spent 18 seasons as a head coach in the NFL, 13 with the Green Bay Packers (2006-18) and five with the Dallas Cowboys (2020-24). McCarthy won Super Bowl XLV while with the Packers, a 31-25 victory over the Steelers.
In 2025, the Steelers won the AFC North with a 10-7 record with Aaron Rodgers under center. However, Pittsburgh was quickly eliminated from the playoffs with a loss to the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.
