The Dolphins decided to hire Jon-Eric Sullivan as their new general manager

Sullivan will now be tasked with turning around a team in massive management trouble with Tua Tagovailoa potentially on his way out of town and the Dolphins facing significant salary cap questions.

Sullivan’s hiring comes days after the Dolphins fired head coach Mike McDaniel.

McDaniel appeared to be sticking around, telling the media that he would be involved in the interview process for Grier’s successor. Instead, McDaniel was fired four days after Miami’s season finale.

Coach Jerry Sullivan’s son, Jon-Eric Sullivan, has worked his way up through the ranks in Green Bay since joining the Packers in 2003 as a training camp intern. Moving from scout to director of college scouting in 2016 to co-director of player personnel in 2018, Sullivan became Green Bay’s vice president of player personnel in 2022.

Regarded as one of the brightest young minds in scouting, Sullivan now brings that expertise to South Beach.

With a new GM in place, the focus turns to hiring a new head coach.

Since Sullivan was taken away from Green Bay, several coaching candidates have been linked to the new GM, starting with Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley. Other possibilities include former Green Bay Super Bowl-winning coach Mike McCarthy, current Jacksonville Jaguars DC Anthony Campanile (Packers LBs coach in 2024), and Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich. If Green Bay were to part ways with Matt LaFleur, he would immediately become a hot name in Miami.
