2) Mayfield must rediscover magic for the Bucs
The Bucs’ offense appears to have gotten healthier, with the return of wide receivers Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan and running back Bucky Irving, but Baker Mayfield’s health may be turning the other way. Mayfield is now listed with a right shoulder injury after dealing with a left shoulder injury earlier this season, adding to the list of ailments during a physically demanding season. That’s reflected in his recent play, with an interception (including one by Carolina) in each of his last four games. Evans has had his moments in the three games since his return, but Mayfield’s 66.9 fielder rating in 2025 when targeting Evans (three touchdowns, two interceptions) underscores the poor connection they’ve had. Another concern is the availability of left tackle Tristan Wirfs. Benjamin Chukwuma took his place last week and struggled, allowing two runs. Tampa Bay has scored 20 or fewer points in five of its last six games since Week 12 after doing so just twice from Weeks 1 to 11. If the Bucs are going to win this game, they need better play from the offense.
