Derrick Henry has set himself next to another Hall of Famer.
Henry’s liquid level in a 44-10 loss on Sunday for Houston Texans gave Baltimore Ravens who runs 110 back on his gorgeous career and leveled him with Hall of Famer Walter Payton for the fifth time.
Four weeks before, Henry scored twice against the Buffalo Bills and broke a draw with Hall of Famer Jim Brown in fifth place in the NFL record books. He scored again in week 3 against Detroit Lions and gave him 109 on Sunday.
Henry looked for sweetness, as Payton was called, in a 1 meter score in the third quarter, although the sink was the only bright spot in a blast that brought Baltimore to 1-4 during the season.
Payton, who was a long Chicago Bear, reached 110 contact in 190 games, while Henry, 31, scored in 141 with Tennessee Titans and Ravens.
Now in the 10th NFL season – two with Ravens after eight for the Titans – closes Henry to become 17. The player who reaches 12,000 rush meters. After Sunday, he has 11,740.
For a season, Henry tied the leadership of the league with a 16 rushing contact. He has been at the top of the NFL in rushing points three times before and could be on his way to another leadership of the league.
From Nashville to Baltimore, King Henry has rich and he has not brought up the record books.
