Original Mascot Chiefs, the longest employed, employed after a 35 -year run as KC Wolf

“Dan Meers has been a heart and soul behind KC Wolf for 35 years,” Clark Hunt, owner of Chiefs, said in a statement on Tuesday. “Since joining the organization in 1990, Dan helped to bring KC Wolf not only as energy and enthusiasm on Gamedays, but as a symbol of pride and passion for all Chiefs Kingdom.

Meers, who is from Missouri, began his mascot career at a university where he spent four years as Truman Tiger at the University of Missouri. Meers then worked as Fredbird St. Louis Cardinals in Major League Baseball before joining the Chiefs organization.

According to Chiefs, KC Wolf was admitted to the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2006 and became the first NFL the mascot to earn that honor.

“To say that I am a blessed man is underestimated. For the past 35 years I have had my dream job. I have worked for the team I love, in the city I love, with the people I love. After all these years, I certainly hope that Chiefs kingdom knows how much I love and thank them. I have memories and stories. “I especially want to thank my family, Hunt family, Chiefs Organization and the world’s greatest fans for all love, support and laughter we have shared over the past 35 years. I am truly blessed, blessed man!”
