Barcelona, Spain – Sept. 9: Gavi chats with teammate Lamine Yamal after Barcelona’s Champions League opening match at Camp Nou.
Reports on Monday say Napoli are eyeing a bold January swoop for Barcelona’s midfield star Gavi, fresh off his World Cup triumph.
Report: Napoli aim to secure Gavi from Barcelona in January
Napoli’s start to 2026‑27 has been shaky; a loss to Juventus left them eighth after ten games, 13 points adrift of leaders and nine shy of Europe spots. Coach Massimiliano Allegri has endured six defeats while winning just four of his first thirteen matches.
With a quiet summer market and a squad that seems to be winding down, Napoli will likely have to tap the January window to revive their campaign. For my money, a fresh midfield spark could be the cure.
Calciomercato.com reports Napoli have set their sights on a January move for Barcelona midfielder Gavi.
The 22‑year‑old, who has logged 168 Barcelona appearances, has struggled for minutes under Hansi Flick this season. A minor knee issue hampered his start, and he’s started only twice, totalling 146 league minutes, plus 45 minutes across three Champions League outings.
Rodri, Pedri and Fermin López appear to be Flick’s preferred midfield trio at the moment.
Calciomercato says Barcelona no longer view Gavi as untouchable and may allow a January exit. Napoli are reportedly leading the chase, with Manchester United having shown interest earlier.
Barcelona are said to price Gavi at around €40 million this summer.
