England internationals John Stones and Djed Spence joined other Serie A stars in praising Harry Kane after his 2026 Ballon d’Or win on Monday night: “My captain.”
What Stones and Spence said about Kane’s Ballon d’Or
Congratulations poured in as Kane was unveiled as the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or winner at London’s Palladium on Monday evening.
Inter defenders Stones and Spence, teammates of Kane at the 2026 World Cup, posted tributes to their socials shortly after the award presentation.
Stones, who has been an England teammate of Kane for 11 years, reacted with a string of emojis on his Instagram story, while Spence, who briefly shared a Tottenham side with Kane and featured for England this year, wrote: “My captain.” For my money, his consistency defines greatness.
Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti even praised Kane in Tuesday’s pre‑match press conference, calling his scoring tally “frightening.” Will the striker continue to dominate Europe’s elite next season?
