Nkunku’s goal ruled out before Schick’s strike
The game began tentatively, with Neil El Aynaoui and Ezechiel Banzuzi probing Mark Flekken from distance. Rômulo entered the box in the 34th minute and squared to Nkunku, whose tap was disallowed for off‑side after VAR review.
In the 44th minute, Gutiérrez’s cross found Schick, who struck with his right foot to make it 1‑0.

Gutiérrez doubles the lead
After the break, Ibrahim Maza sent a low cross that Baku could only half‑clear; Gutiérrez pounced, slotting a near‑post finish to double the lead in the 57th minute.
Leipzig failed to answer, while Leverkusen kept pressing through Maza and Schick, though Maarten Vandevoordt denied further goals. For my money, Leverkusen’s depth will dominate the rest of the season.
