Super Bowl LX Opening Night: Best moments from Patriots, Seahawks media coverage

Drake Maye didn’t make Super Bowl LX and become an MVP finalist solely because of his play and preparation. Apparently he also has some superstitions to thank.

Asked about personal superstitions or good luck charms, the Patriots quarterback first laid out a specific sequence of actions when getting dressed.

“I try to stick to my warm-up routine every week,” he said. “I put my right shoe in front of my left shoe. I put my left sock in front of my right sock. Really, other than that, I don’t listen to music on headphones. I just really listen to what the locker room is playing.”

He then went on to list some of his preparations for the game, quickly realizing that the process includes quite a few quirks.

“I try to keep the little things the same,” Maye continued. “Try to eat the same thing. I don’t eat very much on game day. Try to keep it light. And then I stand in the same spot during the national anthem. So, yeah, I probably have a lot of things I do.”

Here’s hoping Maye starts Super Bowl Sunday off on the right foot — and in the right place for it The Star-Spangled Banner.
